No Project Too Big Or Too Small
Fresinger’s Inc. has been a family business since 1887. Until 2015, when it was acquired by the White Machine family of companies, it was located in the heart of downtown Zanesville, exactly where you would expect to find a busy blacksmith shop in 1900.
In 2015 we moved, but the business has continued without a break. Herman Friesinger made the first major change in the company’s direction in 1922, when he began to produce what his father Gottieb, called “fancy work.” Herman’s grandson Michael continues as the firm’s artistic and design director. He has ventured more in the world of artist-blacksmith.
Through all these years an eye for design and craftsmanship has been passed from one generation to the next. All the things we make- whether complete stairs, wroght iron, aluminum or bronze railings, gates or fences are fabricated carefully, one at a time. All our work is custom-designed and custom-made giving us great versatility in the range of items we can produce. In addition to contemporary work, we do repair, restoration and replication of historic metalwork in wrought iron or cast iron.
Occasionally, it is of our own work made 5 or more years ago, but now in need of attention. Other times it has been in German Village, Victorian Village, and even in the Columbus Museum of Art.

Ornamental metalwork offers beauty, utility, privacy and security. Its design may be austere or flamboyant, limited only by the imagination. We would be happy to discuss your project with you at any time, offer suggestions, and provide you with a firm quote. While we work in metals – steel, aluminum, copper, bronze, or brass, we also work collaboratively with skilled millworking firms producing work which combines metal and wood.
